Where Skyline Meets Sanctuary
A homeowner's reflection of living at 1839 Dart Street
When I moved back to Houston in my early 20s, I knew exactly what I wanted: to be near the pulse of the city with its arts, culture, sports, and the hum of energy that comes from being surrounded by creativity and commerce. I bounced around rentals near Allen Parkway and Downtown, always circling the First Ward, always within reach, but never quite home.
I had done my research on the Silver Dart community and knew there were only a few townhomes with the specific view I was after, facing the iconic downtown skyline, uninterrupted. When 1839 Dart became available, I didn’t hesitate. I moved in early 2019, and from the first day, it felt like I had finally settled into the perfect place. It checked all the boxes and more.
Over the years, I invested in making this home not only more elegant but also more secure, functional, and reflective of my lifestyle. The kitchen was completely reimagined with Cambria quartz countertops and matching backsplash, chosen for durability and timeless beauty, paired with a farmhouse-style stainless sink and Restoration Hardware pendant lighting. It’s a kitchen that adapts to every style, whether you lean modern, classic, or somewhere in between.
I refinished the flooring for consistency across all levels, resecured and rewelded every iron railing, added smart thermostats, updated the lighting, and painted every common space in fresh, clean white to let the architecture speak for itself. But my favorite transformation? The rooftop terrace.
That rooftop became my sanctuary. I still remember my first workout on the turf after having it professionally installed, a simple moment that grounded me. The skyline stretches endlessly from that terrace. You can watch the buildings light up for the holidays, for the Astros, for whatever the city is celebrating. I’ve had friends over to watch fireworks, movies on a projector, and more than a few quiet nights with nothing but the breeze and the view.
The fourth floor, which many units in this gated community don’t have, became a flex space — part gym, part game room, decorated with a few pieces of signed Astros memorabilia. It has a mini fridge built in, and the area’s vibe is just easy. Purposeful. Private.
It’s been a good place to live, and not just the structure. The neighbors are fantastic. We keep in touch when someone’s out of town, and there’s a real sense of respect and support among the residents. It’s rare.
Life has shifted for me recently, with the start of a family, and it simply no longer aligns with the lifestyle I envisioned when I first bought Dart. But what I created here, what this space offers, is special. For someone who values connection, walkability, and urban elegance with a place to unwind above it all, 1839 Dart is more than just a home. It’s a lifestyle.
